LQ Member Intro forum?

I have just completed my registration process and I am politely invited to introduce myself in the LQ Member Intro forum, which apparently doesn't exists anymore.

I read that it was removed because posts had 0 replies, which is perfectly normal since it's a mere "hello world". I take this opportunity to introduce myself then, as a half way between newbie and skilled user. I'll try to help others wherever is within my limited scope, but most of the time i will be looking for help.

As a new member of LQ, there's no much I can say right now. Time will help me see if this site of yours can bring some light and let me understand what i do wrong (or right...).

I leave you with this question: Is there any search engine, of this site or google or any other in order to look for specific problems or questions posted? I know that certain problem could be classified by labels such as networking, but problems in this category (as an example, it's the same for every other) could be of a very wide scope, including hardware, software, etc.

Thank you very much.

the member intro forum is here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...splay.php?f=24

theres a search link at the top of this site (also includes advanced search button) to search through thread titles and content. test it out for your particular inquiry.

Cool re 'introducing yourself in our LQ Member Intro forum'

That gentleman did better than I.
I signed up about a year ago but was either too busy or felt too ignorant to really pursue this forum. I recently decided that maybe I could benefit from it now and so I took a good guess at what my password was and voila, I am told it would be nice if I was 'introducing yourself in our LQ Member Intro forum.' So I looked and looked for the LQ Member Intro forum. Now this other new person finds out it doesn't exist anymore.
So this will serve as my introduction and I'll add that I am pretty new to this online stuff and will feel my way around. I may have questions to post but I'll go back to the newbie section or maybe networking.

Welcome to LQ!

The LQ Member Intro forum is still around, and in fact, it never left. As others have already mentioned, it is a sub-forum of the General forum, which is located at the bottom of the main forum page. Please note: There is a "Linux-General" forum, which is intended for technical discusssions (eg, a sample topic may be about how to configure a PC as a dual boot between Windows and Linux) as well as a generic "General" forum, which is suitable for non-technical discussions. Sample topics in General can be about just about anything - outside interests, movies, books, cars, whatever.

Due to its non-technical nature, the LQ Member Intro forum is part of "General" as opposed to "Linux-General". All members are encouraged to drop in to the LQ Member Intro forum and say Hello.

Thank you very much to all of you.

nadroj: I got that newcomer post at last. thanks a lot. I've found the search engine some time later after posting, I'll be testing it today.

truthfatal: Didn't know about subforums. I'll be more carefull before posting

rdwinders: Hehe, I was wrong about the member intro forum. It does exists (although I read that it doesn't on another post...). You can use nadroj's link to it.

j.w.: Thanks a lot. I'll be more carefull in the future when posting the kind of statements I've written.

titanium_geek: No, there are two links in the message rdwinders mentioned: one goes directly to the forums topics (such as general, networking, etc.) and the other one goes to a FAQ. I used the first one to get the member intro forum, didn't know back then about subforums.

See you soon.

Question <html><head><title>My first website</title></head><body>Hello world</body></html>

"Sorry about the long subject line. I just couldn't resist. Ahhh... The good ol' days learning HTML. Well, onto alittle about me.

I am basicly a to *nix computers, though I played around with a old RedHat distro some time ago, and been messing around in Ubuntu, my current distro. I dont have much I can help other people with at the moment, but I hope to learn. I might be seen in here alot, as I drag my way through *nix. Well, I do have a question to start off my stay here. I need a driver for a Motorola SM56 Speakerphone Modem. I tryed looking on here, and google, but didnt fine anything for Ubuntu. If anyone can help me I dont have highspeed, so my modem is my access to the web. Thank you for any help," says the shadow, as it melts into the dark. You see a light at the end of the tunnel north. To the south is the door, now barred shut. You can hear a grue in the east passageway.
