Looking for new friends

I am brand new to linux, though I was exposed to UNIX when I worked at an ATT training center. I even used vi quite a bit.I really got tired of either verizon, HP,Windows, or some other idiot taking over my machine. My install was smooth as silk and i was back on my home wireless in less than 2 minutes. I am almost 65 and I am finding this project really stimulating.I need to get my system to run Windows apps so I can run my ham log program and cakewalk sonar 7.

Looking forward to years of discovery and clean operations.

Welcome to LQ!

As for running Windows apps on Linux, you might have some luck with Wine, which is basically a user-level implementation of the Windows API on top of a Linux-based OS which allows some (but unfortunately not all...yet) Windows programs to run on Linux. There are also commercial implementations of Wine, such as CodeWeavers CrossOver.
