Before I got my current computer, I had never even heard of Linux or Ubuntu. I have no clue what its all about, and I am trying to figure everything out. Any help would be appreciated...I dont even know what version I have, how to install flash players that I need, etc...

from your post, it looks like you are running Ubuntu. You can find some information here on the newest version of ubuntu:
http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Karmic

I believe you can issue this command from a terminal to get your ubuntu version
Code:
cat /etc/issue
Also run from a terminal to determine if you have 32 or 64 bit OS. This will be important for installing your flash player.
Code:
arch
