Hullo,
I've been on Linux for a couple years now. I started by installing Ubuntu on my netbook for kicks, but didn't quite get it (MP3s didn't immediately work and I didn't see any particular advantages over Windows except that it was prettier). But I needed to procrastinate and eventually stumbled on
Crunchbang which worked out of the box. I still didn't quite see the point until my Win XP install started to really drag. Soon I was totally hooked!
Now I'm studying economics and want to do research on the economics of open source software... in part because I want to spend more time doing Linuxy things.
But I'm on LQ mostly because I want to learn about Slackware.
Cheers,
Rick
