Linux for Chinese?

I'm a travel bum and part-time Chinese-English translator thinking of making the switch from Windows to Linux in the hopes of ending up with a more streamlined and stable system. I am hoping that the members of this forum might be able to suggest an appropriate distribution. I would prefer an English platform that offers efficient display and input of Traditional and Simplified Chinese characters.

i believe the PRC puts out a distro(red dragon or red something) which i would think might incorporate the latest in chinese character presentation and functionality-see what taiwan is big on.
good luck.
