Just another new guy wanting to make the switch to Linux
Hello everyone.
Like the title says I'm looking to make the switch to Linux. I'm sure I'll have tons of questions and will need much guidance and "coaching" in the process. Forums are nothing new to me as I post in quite a few.
Tech wise, I'm a bit of a dinosaur as I didn't grow up with computers and see them more as a tool and "communication device". In fact, I'm pretty much the only one at home that still uses the laptop as my wife and kids all use their phones or tablets. Not a luddite by any means, just way behind on the learning curve.
I'm looking forward to learning and for me that means doing the research first. Plan the work and work the plan. Wish me luck.
I have been using Linux for about 25 years now and have enjoyed every minute of it. You are never too old. I am 73 and learning more about Linux every day.

As was said previously, not behind the times.
But it seems like laptops & desktops are becoming some sort of special devices for computer professionals, and smartphones the default.
And young people can get very irritated when you suggest that a smartphone is just another type of computer.
I'm just a simple kind of guy. When I got my first "smart phone", well reasonably intelligent phone, it still could do more than I was ever going to ask of it. That was 6 years ago. I still prefer to sit down at the laptop and research things. It's probably the old eyes, but it's my comfort zone. Thank you all for the welcome. Now, off to get some more information from the brain trust here.
Wifi Desktop Linux Jukebox in the motorcycle shop.
