Cool Joe Kampf has joined

Hello folks,

My name is Joe Kampf (ak a rolandofghent, yes it was an old D&D name. No I don't play anymore, but I like the handle.)

I'm a Java Architect/Consultant working in the Philadelphia area. I have mainly worked on Solaris, but I am starting to work more with Linux. So I'm interested in learning more about how Linux works compared to Solaris.

I think it is important for Developers and Architects to understand the systems that they are deploying on. Just because the code can run anywhere doesn't mean that it should or that there are not other considerations.

I have posted my first question. It is one about Java and how mmap and top show different sizes for the Java processes, and how that relates to the heap sizes.

Thanks,

Joe Kampf
