It's a bit late, but my intro...

Hi everyone,

I have been here for a couple of months now, and I have never seen this so here is my introduction, albeit a bit late.

I am a 21 year old, unemployed male from the UK. I have been using Windows my entire life and got pretty good at stuff on there, however, one day I stumbled upon a Live CD named SLAX, you've probably heard of/used it. This was my very first Linux experience, and I loved it. So much in fact, that I decided to install the Live CD to my hard drive and use it as a regular OS. After quite a bit of messing around with it, learning new things and remembering to forget what I had already learned from Windows, I finally had it behaving like a "designed for install" OS. After this, I recalled seeing a message from the man who created SLAX during the install which said something along the lines of "If you want to install something, install Slackware, It's much better". So I did, I downloaded the iso images and installed it. Now I am having so much fun with my computer it's unreal, in the few months I have been using Linux, I have learned so much more than I did with Windows. I used to enjoy "hacking" Windows to make it behave how I wanted it to. Now I have an OS on which this sort of behavior is normal, and I will never look back. I look forward to the future and only wonder how much I can learn, with the help of thousands of LQ members, probably quite a lot.

I would like to thank these people before I go:

Everyone at linuxquestions.org - for being here when I needed help, and no doubt, will be here the next time, and there will be a next time.

Tomas Matejicek - For introducing me to Linux in the first place and telling me to get Slackware.

Pat Volkerding - For his outstanding work which comes in the form of Slackware.

And how could I forget, Linus Torvalds, the father of Linux.

Everyone else who isn't mentioned above, who has played any part at all in the development of Linux and open source software.

Damn, that was longer than I thought it was going to be.
