Python usage problem

Dear all,

I am using abinit software in my linux and I need to use python, I have downlded python from and according to abinit's suggestion I have downloaded the "numeric" from I unzipped the files and installed python, when I wanted to read the data with it I wrote:
> python AbinitBandStructureMaker. py file out
"abinitbandstructure is a code in my software"
the program declared that the numerical part is missing????

Could you please let me know how to install python and numeric all together?
