Intro About Myself and Started Linux This Week.
 

I have been into using the computers since 1998 for shortwave radio listening and graphic art, I have used mostly Windows 95 and then upgraded to XP and I have been using it ever since. An old friend got me introduced to the Debian OS. Last year I started to get my feet wet with Linux Knoppix. This year my netbook crashed due to a lost file in the System 32 files. It was due to a Realtek HD Audio driver update. I am
waiting on the recovery CD. I might not use the recovery CD for a long while. The good things about Linux is that Viruses and spyware do not
exist here. I just wish there was more support for linux. Everything and many devices accept Windows and Mac. I am still disappointed that my internal SD card reader does not work with Linux Ubuntu 9.04 remix. I am
using a small netbook with the Ubuntu operating system. I might not
put Windows XP back on this machine cause you need to spend lots of money on spyware, adware and virus protection. I feel safe and sound here on linux than I do with Windows. I spend more time online with Linux that I do with Windows. Most of the time I am scanning for spyware while with Linux I am browsing the web. I just love it! I am going to get most of my PC's installed with Linux soon as possible.

Main thing I am having trouble with is terminal codes and package installation related to tar.gz and .bin files. But using the .deb no
problem.

Hi and welcome to LQ, there is a learning curve but when you get a hang on using terminal and a few basic commands it will grow on you.
