Human Form of Spam
I'm a more or less regular reader of Linuxquestions, when googling stuff it seems spretty clear that this place contains a vast amount of knowledge. Now I'm registering not to post question, but for the selfish purposes of getting myself unbored and getting another bunch of signature links that will improve my home page's visibility on google. How sad.
Anyways, hope I'll think of something to ask here instead of constantly bugging friends at irc. I've used Linux systems for almost a year and a half. I started with Suse 9.1 Personal, which was a pain in the ass, moved to newer versions and then tried Slackware, but felt kind of lazy so I tried Debian, but the five year old software issue made me switch to Debian testing. On my server, that is. I wouldn't stand a day without a server collecting uptime, serving files to the rest of the family with ftp, samba and nfs, endless irc'ing (scrren + irssi) and keeping up the appearances with a placeholder homepage. Not to mention how smoothly rtorrent integrates with my file serving and music storage needs.
Desktop-wise I'm still Windows, although I have a Gentoo dualboot, which is kewl, but far too time consuming to play around with. I really just want a quick and dirty desktop with all the tools for handling media I could possibly imagine; Windows feels more and more stupid every day but Ubuntu isn't just my thing (although nice to set up and maintain for ther people), and besides I like keeping that Gentoo install (which I didn't do myself) just as a no-life status symbol of sorts. ;)
And did I mention that I hate Gnome?
Now stop reading this and forget that this mindless ranting made you sad. Complaining about computer software is a way of life, which I am here to celebrate.
