howdy from texas

although i am in texas...i don't actually use the word howdy

i am introducing myself per the email i got. its strange.

umm

hmm

ok i guess ill put my computers

windows (xp)....|...linux (fedora core 2)
p4 2.53 Ghz....|...p3 450mhz
1gb pc2700....|...256mb pc 133
60gb wd hard drive...|....10gb quantum fireball?
80gb wd hard drive (storage only)......|.
sony 4x dvd +- burner...|....sony dvd-rom
regular cd drive...|....acer 24x10x40 cd burner
ati aiw 9600....|... ati aiw 7500
(using component adapter ...|....13 or 14 inch relisys monitor
to output to 41 inch hdtv) ....|... (not sure but its small)

primary use of windows box is for entertainment and storage. everything looks very nice outputting through component cables. also has analog 5.1 soundblaster card and the speakers too.
i also use this comp to capture and transfer home movies to dvd, doing some video editing and dvd authoring with adobe encore. firewire card is cheapo one off ebay...works fine.

primary use of linux box is to learn and experiment with linux. its my old machine that is still holding up fairly nicely. it could no longer do video stuff quick enough but is still decent for most everything else. planning on changing out the hard drive and getting an enclosure for the current drive. built in firewire (computer started off as sony vaio though now its more frankenstein)

ok well that me and my computers. ciao
