I'm trying to make the switch from another O.S., and I'm very new to things Linux. I hope my ignorance of Linux basics isn't too annoying.

Hi and welcome.

Ignorance isn't a problem here as there a lot of ignorant people here.
Ask questions and learn from the answers. Pretty soon is you who is answering the questions
