Red Hat Press publishes excellent books for every possible use for RHL. I bought "Red Hat Linux, Networking and System Administration", as well as "Red Hat Linux Firewalls". To of the best books I have read about Linux. The books help a lot, but don't forget to utilize Linux's most valuable resource, the forums. The collective knowledge of LQ is staggering.

Welcome to LQ. :-)

Dear Pcghost

Many Thanks for ur valuable advise. Is this two books cover everything for RedHat linux ?

No, they don't cover everything, as it's impossible. But they'll give you strong basis, so you can later read more detailed texts about problems you find interesing/needed.

Dear Mara,

Thanks for ur reply, but actualy i want to know which books include/covers the exact RedHat linux basic command. Can u give me the Books and Writer's name. so that I can collect/buy and practice myself.

Sharif.

Red Hat Networking and System Administration covers a lot of commands necessary for server administration. It certainly doesn't cover all the commands, but a book that had them all would be too heavy to lift. The Red Hat Linux X Bible series is another handy reference book for command syntax and service configuration. They are a little spendy though. Check ebay or the like if you want to save some money.

I have used:
RedHat bible http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books
and Redhat Unleashed
I like the bible books, because they start off easy, and and make you understand. And they also introduce you to the harder stuff. I think that book is exelent for beginners.

The other book I was talking about is 'SAMS Red Hat linux 9 Unleashed'
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846
In amazon they even has an offer:
Get both books for 67,98 US$
The 'unleashed' is in my oponion less for the common man, and more to the professional/semi-professional.

But what are looking to do?
Setting up a server? a disktop? just have a "fun" dooble boot section on your conputer?
RedHat 9 is very easy to setup, but you still need to read something about how linux works, to understand what happneds doing disk partition, and why your files are located where they are....that gave me a lot of trubble :-)

If just for fun, then just play, and they the system is broken install again

Now i want to install redhat 9 in existing systems. i.e. dowel boot systems. one should be run windows 98 and other should be run RedHat, which i like.

Would request to somebody help me step by step, how do I install RedHat linux beside my windows98 operating systems, and which installation class is best for me. is the server , workstation or other class.
