Hi-ya everybody,

Looking forward to being a member in linuxquestions.org. I'm not new to linux but willig to learn more from the cool :cool: experts here.

Thanks, but how was you able to retrieve what I deleted awhile back. I though only the Mods can retrieve what I deleted.

From the timings (you modified your message at 7:28, ardvark71 posted theirs at 7:31), ardvark71 opened your message before you deleted it but didn't get round to replying it for another three minutes, by which time you had deleted the original but the previous version was still in ardvark71's browser. All timings are local to me.

A large percentage of the users here are European, so posting at what was the middle of the night for us (03:15 my time), I'm not surprised you didn't have an immediate reply to your initial message. Even for the eastern seaboard States folk, that's pretty late at night. Also, the number of post reads includes all those who read the forums who are not members and are therefore unable to sign in and add posts to discussions.

There are probably 5 or 6 folk on here who make an effort to say hi to all beginners (kudos to all of them), and a few others like me who do so sporadically. For those 5 or 6, they all post at different times, so you would only expect to have those replies within a day, possibly 2.

Yes #6, and there's a preference at LQ to not delete stuff, tho I couldn't find it in the 'rules' (note LQ is to be VERY-G-rated!)
IF you want to do some 'obscure digging', you could search LQ for: <username> moderator :D
