Smile Hi to every body

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Hi there,
I feel so great to become a member of Linuxquestion Forums. I am a Computer Hardware Technician. I own a computer hardware company at Islamabad, Pakistan. I am very new to Linux. Recently I installed Redhat 9.0 but I dont know how to configure Soft-Modem that comes with Linux Drivers on CD. I intend to standardise Linux OS with my designed PCs. But for that definately I need to get command on Trouble-shooting Linux OS.
I hope that I will be able to learn much through this Linux-Community and thus will be able to creat awareness about "Power of Linux" OS in my local community ( my customers ).

Sincerely,

Jawwad Ahmad

Welcome to LQ! Problems with soft-modems are probably most common ones we see here. The good thing is that they can be solved in really many cases. Good luck with it!

Smile how to install Soft-Modem in Linux?

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Dear Mara,
How can I proceed with the installation of Soft-Modem, although I do have drivers for Linux in the CD that comes with the Modem. I dont know the steps in Linux at all because earlier I was a user of MicroSoft's OS (win95, 98, XP Pro SP2 etc ).

Thanks indeed

Dear Jawwad8,
Installation of soft-modem drivers is not standard. It depends on the model. That's why it's impossible to tell you without knowing what you have. CD with drivers is a good start. Look into it. Usually such package has a README file with installation instructions. If you're unsure about it, please post the file list (if there are many of them -- only the ones you think that are important). I ask, because file names, extensions etc can tell quite much.
