Hi i am current downloading my first linux os. Sometime in mid dec 2005 my computer was hacked and crashed through my msn messenger. Buying my computer from rentway i got no software not a disc 1 with it. I reformatted my harddrive and put a mut of a copy windows xp back on it of my buddies. Took about a week to get all the correct drivers on it. The first priority was to secure my computer. As i surfed the web i can across an article about linux. The more i learned the more i wanted to try linux on my computer. After patching the holes in window xp (for security) i began my search of a linux os for me. I have choosen SUSE linux. Got about another two weeks of downloading before I'll have my first linux distrubtion. I'm hopeing i will not be disappointed.

That's courage: downloading on a 56k line. I faced the same problem and decided it would be cheaper, easier and less frustrating to get a cd or dvd with a magazine.
