Hi, I am a white sheet of paper!

Hello, I am Joanne! I am new to this board and I am new to Linux!

Except some random googling about Linux, I pretty much know nothing about Linux... I am getting my new netbook (Samsung N210) tomorrow and I have decided to install Linux on the netbook!

I am as blank as a white sheet of paper! I will definitely need a lot of helps and I will start lurking and asking random questions in this forum! Haha! Leave me suggestions! Thanks!

Hi there, white sheet of paper :D

Welcome to LQ Joanne, and great decision on deciding to try Linux. We'll do our best to help you out.

There's loads of information here, including sub-forums for netbooks and laptops, so if you cannot find the information you think you need, feel free to start a thread and ask some questions -- just have a search first before asking -- it's *probably* been asked before somewhere :)

Sasha

My advice? Use Mint...

I have tried to install ubuntu - boot CD - in my old computer (around 5 years old)... then I get a swap partition error... (I tried to install ubuntu as "entire" HDD...) and the installation got rejected. i think the HDD got clean off, now i cant even boot hdd... Should I try Mint (or other distros) now?
