Welcome to the real world. I !think! your distro used to be called Mandrake. I started on it too. I then moved to Gentoo and have not looked back for a second. I have never bought a M$ product and am proud of it.

The reason I switched, the updates got to be something and I had something that would cause random crashes. It has never happened with Gentoo though. No clue what it was. It was a cut off power switch lock up too. Even ctrl alt del wouldn't work.

Hang in there.

Cool Welcome Home

xpression

Good luck to ya. Started with Mandrake back in the day. Tried a couple of the other distro's and settled on Redhat Fedora3 and Mandrake 9.2. I had a steep learning curve and almost gave up. Been a Linux nut for 6 years now. WILL NOT EVER go back to the MS Herd.
Stick with it. Linux really is the better OS. And dont forget to help out others as you go along. Do not become a Guru that sits on his/her mountain hoarding information. Share it. No matter how bad you just want to say "RTFM". It will pay off in the long run.
Welcome home newbie.
