Wink Hi from Newcastle upon tyne UK

Hello everyone,

I'm a computer science student in second year, with 18 months worth of programming experience, although not 18 focused months (i blame games).

I've just downloaded and replaced windows 10 with MX linux on my laptop after trying ubuntu, learning basic vim and i also run mint in dual boot on my main PC, debian didn't like my dual monitor set up. I've been interested in linux for a long time as i had a friend who used it back in the day but never took the plunge because i thought it looked pretty complicated. I've been listening to the destination linux podcast a lot, mainly when im in bed, i love how passionate and knowledgeable they are, Noah is awesome if you can get past his 3000 words a minute bursts.

Recently i bought a raspberry pi 4 which runs raspbian, thought it would give me some hands on exposure, i created an LED news scroller that pulls rss feeds which is really cool (i didn't write the software unfortunately, but i have modified it with different font packages and so the text changes color depending on the modulo of index in the array containing the .ppm images which are generated.

Currently grinding learning how to script in shell, fortune | cowsay firmly built in to the bashrc to keep me entertained.

I love this new world and look forward to becoming a master sudoer.

Fedora since F4!! So about 15 years. I am thinking of migrating away from the Gnome desktop though as my computer is old. Thinking of xfce which I use for VMs. Lotsa choice with linux
