Both the operating systems has their own advantages and disadv.,as i think Linux is always a good choice for server end bcoz its min h/w requirements are very less as compare to Microsoft products, but for client end i love to work on windows as it is easy to learn for any new user,..

Under what circumstance? Overall, I think Linux is neither better nor worse than Windows, just different.

not like that,Linux has a lot of advantages over windows like being an open source you can modify the things according to your requirements and so on but the big plus point with Linux is ,it is very much robust in nature so you will never see the blue screens comming on your monitor,.

just try it,.

I would argue Windows is inferior to Linux. Here's why:

- Activation is poorly implemented
- It is overpriced
- Windows costs money, yet comes without a warranty. With Linux you get LOTS of software for FREE with no warranty
- Microsoft has been known to sue customers who resell retired/no longer used software to other people
- You can get any browser you like with your OS, as long as it's MSIE (and don't even think of uninstalling it)
- - You can get any media player you like with your OS, as long as it's Windows Media Player (and don't even think of uninstalling it)
- You can use any desktop environment you like, as long as it's Explorer
- You can use any skin you like, as long as it's signed by Microsoft (or you hack a windows library or two with a hex editor)
- You can use as many processors as you like with any Linux distro. With XP Home, you can use one, and with XP pro you can use two. Max.
- You can cluster any edition of Linux. To cluster Windows, you need Windows Server Enterprise
- ActiveX ('nuff said)
- Microsoft Messenger ('nuff said)

I agree that it may be considered inferior if you have more than a passing interest in using your computer to its full potential. Otherwise a propery configured (Disabled Messenger, Third party drivers, Firefox, AV, Soft & Hard Firewall, and two or three Malware scanners) Windows OS is perfectly acceptable.

Registry hacking and Hex editing are kinda fun as well

-- maybe this thread should be moved to general.

I am closing this thread. We have several long running "Linux vs Windows" threads in the General forum, we really don't need any more.
