Hellooo Linux Community!
Hey everyone, thanks for having a welcome forum. It's nice!
I'm interested in getting linux set up on a desktop, and have been having serious difficulties, so I've come here to ask some questions! I hope I can find some help. littlekatana |

Welcome to LQ!
What 'problems'? UEFI? Maybe try 'in' VirtualBox.org https://brb.nci.nih.gov/seqtools/installUbuntu.html (Or even OSboxes.org pre-installed!) Enjoy! Here's a good book: https://edu.anarcho-copy.org/Against...negus-10th.pdf |
Oh... it is a long story with error messages lost to the sands of time.
Let's see... Started with a project to become more anon online. Went with Kodachi. Was a nice distro, cool tools, but not super set up for every day use. That's where my problems started I guess there were things missing from the distro that would have been included in popular ones like Mint. Stuff like GCC compiler was out of date for a particular version of Virtual box I was trying to load. was having a hard time figuring out solutions to all these errors. Then attempted to get a different distro, and then my boot problems started. Eventually, I figured out I was in the wrong boot mode, legacy instead of uefi, but what was annoying was the one-time boot menu wasn't even listing my media under the uefi boot options. That's why it took me so long. Then i got mint, then i got virtuabox, then loading windows onto it was blue screen after blue screen. service file-somethingorother, and a quota underflow error. Then i got VMware, and it's much better, have windows on there now, but it's telling me it's a 30 day trial. I thought they had a free version, but i can't seem to switch it. Guess I'll wait until it runs out and see what it says. And now i'm just trying to learn more things about linux. over a month in total trying to get these things set up. |
