Hello world, old-old-new-new here

  • Old(ish) by age
  • Old database admin on a Unix system
  • New to Linux desktop (ubuntu precise)
  • New to LQ
Spent a few years in the 90s using vi and ksh as ide (yes, it was a very stingy company). Now I got an only-slightly-broken hand-me-down dell laptop. (GParted rocks!)

Hi, everybody!

Almost all your skills will come in handy. You may even wish to go to a more technical type of distro but almost any of the popular ones would be fine to try. See distrowatch.com for the common choices.
