Hello! New to Ubuntu Linux and loving it!

Hello! Nice to meet you all. I am a new member to the Linux community. I had some brief exposure to Unix in college but I’ve been a Windows user for years. Recently, due to a Windows update screwing up my install, and a re-install giving the same problem on updating, I threw my hands up and turned to Linux. My husband, an electrical engineer, had tried Linux (Red Hat I think) years ago and found it very hard to get things working. This time we tried Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. It did take a little setting up but I am very impressed! I like it very much. I found it easy to use and almost as intuitive to a new user as Windows. At this moment I have been using it for almost 2 weeks and I do not think I will be going back to Win XP anytime soon. I hope to learn a lot through this experience and I look forward to the interesting discussions I will find here.

Sincerely
Laura

Thanks! I really want to learn more. I used to be a pro at Windows and I’d like to be with Linux eventually.

Hey, I love your username. Douglas Adams fan?

Yes, sort of, but it also refers to any advice I give here.
