Back to being a home linux user after a long hiatus. Years ago I remember running Fedora 1 on 1+ inch thick Toshibas. I then went to Macs for a bit but recently dumped my late 2016 macbook pro for a Dell XPS13 loaded with Ubuntu.
I have been long time emacs, bash, latex user. My linux claim to fame is that back in the '80s I was one of the first (if not the first) alpha testers for bash. At that time I had provided Brian Fox with some time on our Sun boxes to work on that project.
Yea. Me, too. I miss the 90's with the totally integrated network of machines. Everything was NFS mapped everywhere with the automounter. You could walk up to any Sun machine in the building, log in and you were at home: all apps were NFS mounted from the server, your home directory would be NFS mounted from your office desktop, etc.
