Hello From Lake Mary, Fl

My name is Ray and I'm new to Linux. We are using Red Hat Linux 5.2 and have been for 7 months. We had a Linux consultant come in and set up our environment for us. He is now gone and now I have taken over. I have been a HP-UX Unix administrator for 14 years. Anyway I look forward to learning as much as I can and when I get into a problem I will contact the forum for assistance.

Let the Games Begin..

One of the great things about Linux if you're an HP-UX admin is that both use LVM. There are minor differences in the implementation but if you know the HP-UX LVM commands you know the Linux ones. Of course that can be said for most commands in general until you get to pure administration aspects. e.g. There is no Mirror/UX for LVM on Linux - you have to use mdadm to do software RAID - on the plus side this gives you more than just the RAID 1 capability though.

By the way this board doesn't have an HP-UX area but does have them for Solaris and AIX. Admins say it is because IBM and Sun have agreed to support the section for those OSes.
