Hello from Helsinki
Hi everyone!
I'm software designer and I work with .NET Framework technologies. I'm also a student in University of Helsinki, Department of Computer Science. - Which is, btw, the birth place of Linux! :) I have to - and I want to - know Linux better. So I'm here lookin for information. [I have an old and little server at my home which is my personal playground: in the bottom there's Linux Ubuntu server and top of that there's running VMware virtualization software, which offers me a chance to run virtual machines with almost any operating systems. Now I've Linux Fedora 13 and Windows Server 2003 running on those. That is, because I want to use both MS and Linux environments...] -J0uni |
Hello Hensinki
I live in Ul-San, South Korea here. hometown of Hyundai motors. I am teacher. I teach elementary school kids. Sounds quite new to me that a .Net framework developer is interested in Linux. I guess developers all admit which OS is the best :P I have been using Slackware 13.0 on my Dell i5 2.26Ghz 3GB RAM. however, I heard Slackware is too difficult and I have been considering going to Ubuntu. Ubuntu is my go-to ISO when I want to create a rescue USB. Ubuntu comes with absolutely fantastic Live CD abilities. VMWare... ever tried Virtual Box made by Sun? (before uncle Larry bought Sun) it is GNU-licensed. One of my profs while I was attending college was from Finland. He told me he earned his doctorate at University of Helsinki. He taught me how to say hi in Finnish.... Te- Ruh- Beh! (I am sure that is not how it spells) |
