Your preference basically, distribution in Distribution

HI every one, thanks for the warm welcome. I guess you can consider me a newbe. I started using "Ubuntu" about two months ago. What a nice gift from a programmer friend. So far(with the use of reading the forums)I have been able to figure out what I need. Just recently though I can't seem to get my printer to work. It is a Lexmark z611. I followed all the forums, but can't seem to put the "ppd" in the right place. MY printer shows up after installing it through Administration manager, and when I load a test page is sends it to the printer, but thats it. The printer says job stopped. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Gasmantl -

I've had the same Ubuntu printer problem, trying three different computers and two different printers. I've gone around and around in the Ubuntu forums and the CUPS documentation. I'm baffled, too.

A resource that I found, but have NOT had a chance to try is:

http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthre...hlight=lexmark

It will be two or three weeks until I get back to the problem's location. But if you find out this does or does not work, I would like to hear about it.

Best regards,
