hello from a new member


in the late 90s I tried Linux without much success. there was always some hardware that would not work. When several of the basement parts machines became greatly disadvantaged my DB Admin brother in law suggested knoppix.
WOW it worked, but it would not load [to hdd, for me]. He then suggested Ubuntu. 7.04 just worked. Ubuntu is the OS of first choice on all but four of the household machines. puppy and DSL on two underpowered ones, xp only on the last two [games and critical application/printer driver issues][candidates for dual boot]

something to tinker with in my retirement.
