Hello everyone, new to forum, but not to Linux.
Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum, but not to Linux. I have been using Linux for the past 19 or so years, and have tried many different distributions through the years. Started with Red Hat, later tried Mandrake. Eventually would try just about every major, and many other distros. Including Debian, (K,X,U)buntu, LXLE, Linux Mint, Linux Lite, Mepis Linux, AntiX, Slackware, PCLinuxOS, a little of Arch and Manjaro, Puppy, and many others.
I started in the late 80's and early 90's with MS-DOS and Windows 3.x. Have also experimented a small amount with BeOS, BSD and IBM's OS-2. Nowadays I use Linux for the majority of my computing needs, probably 99 percent, and Windows 10 on rare occasions. Mostly on desktops I build myself, along with a laptop I have. I like that Linux gives me more performance, compared to Windows, since all of my computers are old. The newest computer I own, is still 7 years old. The rest are even older.
I also volunteer at a non-profit charity organization, which is involved with open source software, electronics recycling, and computer education. They install Linux on every PC that is sold in the thrift store. They are used computers that are donated, get rebuilt and refurbished, hard drives securely wiped of old data, Linux installed, and then sold at an affordable price.
