Talking Hello Everyone!!

Hey!

How are we doing?? I am new to Linux but I want to master Linux like I have mastered MS-DOS...I eventually want to leave MS in the dust.

Smile Introduction

Hello Everyone.

I am new to this forum; as a matter of fact this is the first forum that I have signed up for.
I have used Linux on and off as a hobby and use Microsoft Windows at work. I prefer UNIX but no longer available in my industry.
I have purchased a copy of Suse 9.0 CDs from CompUSA and I am having my share of troubles getting it to rum.
In my past life I have done limited system administration on AIX, so hope I can be of value to this forum.

Hello Mark,

I am a little puzzled by, "I prefer UNIX but no longer available in my industry." Do you mean that your company no longer uses UNIX?

Steve,

Yes, we no longer have UNIX boxes for our engineering work.
I work for a major aerospace company in El Segundo, CA, and the management dumped all UNIX boxes and place PC boxes with Win2000. I hate the stuff but I am the minority. Most new generation engineers, 30 years old and younger prefer Win2000. It crashes several time a day, but no one cares.
