Hello...back in the jeep again

Life is strange, my dreams (nightmares?) of being sys adm had passed. But the need came back after a co-worker retired. I am left with the adm of a isolated (not connected to the internet) Red Hat network. It's made up of both RH5 and RH7.x. My immediate task is figuring out what packages are installed on the machines to run the custom programs we have. This lead to many questions and is how I found this community. Of course the retired co-worker left no notes, so i get to learn by hard knocks. So like they said in the movie Jurassic Park, "guess we're (I'm) back in the jeep again", fits for the challenges I face.

I am scheduled to go back to school and take the RH Sys Adm classes 1, 2 and 3. Satellite Server (software update) is one of the big challenges I will need to overcome. I hope that these classes and the school of hard knocks will enable me to give intelligent feedback to this community. Or at least I can keep sharing how my job is like working at Jurassic Park.
