Hello!

I'm a little old lady who is fed up with windows, ready to learn about and install Linux something on my Laptop (not my primary computer). Though deaf, gray and doddering a bit, I once knew some DOS - yes I go back that far - and my first website was created using lines of HTML. Very rusty, but very motivated to loosen the shackles of proprietary software and give it a go
:-)

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Don't feel so old, many of us remember DOS, and earlier.

Welcome! I'm looking forward to hearing about your journey! I'm pre-DOS

An idea: VirtualBox to try distros easily &zero-impact (to fragile M$Win)

Odd fyi: your Public Library has a couple of my favorite recent good books on Linux.
