Hello everybody,
Finally after many years as a guest I am joining LinuxQuestions.org!
I have been a long time member of Suggest A Fix (PC Support Forum) but I do have a long Linux (Unix) history.
My first Unix encounter was with Silicon Graphics (sgi) machines. Does anybody here remember the Indigo and PI 4D/35?
I fell in love with their operating system (IRIX) and have done a lot of programming for that. Nothing commercial, everything has been for in-house tools.
Actually, now that I think back, before the sgi days we used Minix in school. I guess that was my first.
Anyway - as an old school Unix administrator I have picked up a lot of (sometimes bad) habits, such as using rsh/rlogin/rcp. I know that is frowned upon these days, but back then there was no SSH.
I hope I can help answer some questions and I hope that some of my questions can be answered.
Cheers,
ronald.
