Greetz from a dutchguy in Luxembourg...

Hello all,

Since i've been on this site quite a few times lately, i figured it's about time to say "hello"......so Hello!

Me is 27 years young and moved to Lux almost a year ago after backpacking through Oz for a year.
Been going about with pc's since my 12th year on this planet. God knows why it took me so long before i wondered into the world of Linux....but hey, better late then never right!? I have to say it's fun going about using commands again. Typing the good ol' "cd" command almost made me sentimental...lol.

So far i've had a look at RedHat, Kubuntu and tried to do Slackware but that really messed up my laptop cause i was a tat uncarefull reading the howto's..... .

Anywayz, hello fellow Linux explorers/pro's/newbies/and others. Knowing me, i'd be on here for quite a few more times to come. Last but not least, lot's of thnx's to everybody contributing to this site. Without a doubt the best Linux site i've come across so far. Keep up the good work!

Regards,

kReLiZ

Hi,
greeting from a Luxembourger in Luxembourg ...
I've had my first contact with Linux at the age of 36 so don't worry, although my first PC (well, Apple 2 actually) was at the age of 12 as well.
It's never to late, but you do have to invest a little bit more time in reading ;-)
And there's a LUG in Luxembourg, maybe you're interested in joining.

All help is welcome and i have a feeling i will be needing some help in the future.
What's the spoken language in this lug? My french is very poor and that is the common language here.

I've decided that for now i will focus on Ubuntu since it's very user friendly for a starter. Their effort in bringing Linux to the people by shipping free cd's is reason enough for me to go check it out.
I'll work my way around the basics and go from there.

The spoken language is Luxembourgish by default, but French is common and English shouldn't be a problem either.

The homepage is http://www.lilux.lu/ (in English, btw) and we have some low-traffic mailing lists which are also in English. There is a meeting every friday where you can ask for help, but personally I've never been there so you might ask for confirmation on the mailing list.

Ubuntu is fine, that's what the LUG recommends to new users, and a lot of people are Debian-savvy so they manage Ubuntu well.
