Greets from Indiana, USA

I have been using various linux/BSD distros for around 7 years. During that time, I have learned a great deal about linux, but do not consider myself any kind of expert. I serve as an administrator on 2 other boards and my user name is registered by me on Freenode. My primary distro is Mandriva. I am currently waiting for Ulteo to pop a beta. Ulteo is the brain-child of Gael Duval, who was one of the originators of the Mandrake/Mandriva distro.

I have my own tech business, am married with 5 kids, and in my free-time I serve with my wife as a Children's Pastor. We are going on a 15 day missions trip in September to the Philappines.

Welcome aboard,

I am sure that your experince will be quite welcome around here. Wow 5 kids, that must be quite a handful, will all of them be joining you on your upcoming trip?

Thanks for the replies. There are no children allowed on the trip, although we tried! We do have to raise the funds ourselves, but are 62% of the way there.
BTW, my kids' ages: 26, 23, 22, 15, and 5. (We like kids, but my wife said "stop!")

Hi,

I use Mandrake 10.1/Mandriva; what sorts of advantages do you think Ulteo will have over the Mandriva distribution? Will there be any processing optimizations? (I am mostly interested in scientific computing, where Mandrake presently appears to be the distr of choice).

Ulteo is a bit of a mystery at the moment. Gael says it will be innovative and different! I do know that he is basing it on debian.
