Greetings from a Former Lurker!
Hi. I am Brad Youngman. I am a 4 year Linux user (Ubuntu). I volunteer a couple of days a week at a Senior Center as a Computer Helper, helping folks with Windows computers. I work with software and hardware problems, and occasionally convince someone to give Linux a try. I have 4 working machines at home: a Sony desktop with XP that my wife will use until XP dies, a Pentium D machine with Ubuntu 9.10 (my main machine), a Samsung netbook with Windows 7 Home Premium and Ubuntu 9.10 (WUBI), and a 2 core AMD lash-up running Windows 7 Ultimate when I need Windows (like during tax time). Maybe in the spring I will build an i5 or i7 machine. Much fun.
My current problem is helping one of my Senior Center "customers" get a Vista/Ubuntu dual boot with each system on a separate drive. I've easily done this before with XP and an earlier Ubuntu version, but now it seems more difficult. I trust that Google will find a solution for me! BTW, I'm 70. Age is no reason to prevent switching to Linux! Cheers. |
Hiya Brad, nice to have you here. Welcome to LQ :)
