Great to be here!!!

Thank you guys for this wonderful work and the opportunity to be here. I hope to contribute my quota to this great team. I have used a lot of the resources already in making my new laptop to work on Linux

This is question rather than a reply

I have a toshiba satellite A30 about 6 years old. Its HDD crashed recently. The original HDD was 40GB. I replaced with HDD (80GB) from Western Digital. I installed XP from recovery CD. the machine was crashing too often. Then I installed Fedora 10. The problem still persists. Any expert advice or suggestions ?
Thanking you in advance -- Rajesh

I don't run Fedora or any rpm based distro. My suggestion would be to run a overnight Mem Test first. You should not receive any error messages from a overnight test. There should be a boot to Memory Tester on the grub boot menu. This test should check your ram sticks for failure or errors. Also how much memory/ram are you running on? This is assuming the crashes are hardware related since you state Windows and Fedora 10 crash on the same computer.

If it"s also possible, try finding the latest and greatest bios upgrade for your machine and install/flash it also. Good Luck
