Glossary?

Hiya, I'm struggling to follow posts/answers because of the terminology/acronyms..I wondered if there was a (basic) glossary to help with this...i've searched and found out 2 posts from 2004 mentioning something similar in the making...but i can't find anything else..can anyone point me to it? (or if not here, something similar on the web maybe?)..thanx

I find that the best thing to do is to search on the words you don't understand. You could also get a book liek "Running Linux" from O'Reilly. Unfortunately there are an absolutely huge number of words and terms used and a dictionary wouldn't give you much beyond a definition.

Hi. Indeed, there are plenty of linux or computer dictionary over the internet. For example http://linux.about.com/cs/glossaries/a/aglossary.htm or http://www.tldp.org/LDP/Linux-Dictio...tml/index.html. Personally, I have difficult to understand some common speaking acronyms like AFAIK, FYI, RTFM and so on, since English is not my mother language. For these, usually I check the Wikipedia.

Great..thanks for that..the linux glossary page looks just what i was after, mainly to look at it parallel to following instructions and checking online as i go along...the book sounds good too, for more relaxed reading.
cheers.
