electronic cigarette here
Hi,
I am a blogger who has just bought a linux notebook and have many new things to learn after 15 years of using windows. It is like starting all over in many respects. I hope this forum can help me with my issues. |

My notebook is an acer and I amvery happy with it. Before my old pc was always slow and getting viruses and now I use my notebook on the couch while watching tele and I am not chained to my desk. It is a great notebook and Linux is so stable and fast. Very happy with it I am and it only cost £200!! |
Good stuff! Do you know what type / distro of linux is on it? Is it ubuntu or SuSE Linux?

Welcome to LQ. I hope that by football you mean "soccer-ball." :) Are you a Derby fan? If so, what does next season hold for you? I am Hull City AFC. What does the season hold for us? Post any Linux issues you have and I am sure we can help.

I do like Derby too. Hull had a great season when you consider the money in the premiership. I hope for a European place nest season!! I am not sure which version I have at the moment. I will try to find out tonight. |
EC welcome :)
Its a good place here, plenty of help. Do you like linux for its ideals, or are you just looking to migrate from the problems associated with windows? you did briefly go into this, but I just wondered. I came into linux looking to get away from MS and for a free operating system, but got sucked into the spirit of the thing :D Its taken a fair amount of work (started in 2006), and frustration occassionally, but its been a very rewarding experience, and its now (almost) plain sailing. Edit: I should add its taken so long because Ive learned to administrate the system from the commandline. Your distro, if its ubuntu or similar, wont take anywhere near that amount of effort, as its very much 'ready to go'. |
