DMG Automounter for Linux

Although you cannot install a *.dmg file in Linux, you can mount it (and unmount it). Most websites "think" they have posted code that has this capability (but it doesn't work), and I have actually solved the problem by creating a nautilus script of my own that enables any distribution of Linux to mount a Mac OS X .dmg file (but not install it, since that would require the Mac OS X APIs, which are closed source). Feel free to download it by typing in "DMG Automounter for Linux" in Google:
See the installation notes in the README file in the folder labeled, DOCUMENTATION, which comes with the tar.gz package, for complete install instructions (and I believe that these install instructions are also on the website). Remember, it is under the GNU Public License. The installation notes are absolutely critical for this software to work!

Please reply to this post with your comments and how my software worked (or did not work) for you. Your feedback is greatly appreciated to the improvement of this software!

Welcome to LQ!

It's been a while since I've visited here regularly, but I believe that the preferred method of advertising your software is to place a link in your signature and then become an active member of the community. That way you can help people while having a visible promotion of your software.

Either that or having some sort of proper arrangement with Jeremy...

Anyways, enjoy your stay :)

Hi truthfatal,
I'm a newbie at this, but how can I place a link in my signature and then become an active member of the community?

Thanks,
flouran

So, has anyone used this software and would like to post his or her comments about it? I greatly welcome any feedback in order to improve my software. I can even answer any questions that you have as well.

I am a firm believer in the OpenSource movement, and I write only OpenSource software to help support not only the GNU community but also the world at large. So, if you have enjoyed this software (and/or would like to see it improved further) and other OpenSource softwares, please do not hesitate to donate, because your donation not only helps the administrator of this project, but the SourceForge.net community as well! Furthermore, any monetary donations will be used to not only support the growth and development of this software, but the growth and development of other softwares as well because 5% of the donation money will go to Sourceforge.net so that it can continue to serve and host Opensource projects (which, I believe will become more popular than other proprietary softwares).
