Dipping my toe

Hello all

Seems like a nice forum you have here. I'll try not to be a total idiot when asking questions.

I'm self-employed as a graphic/web designer, and have been using Windows XP, Adobe CS and Macromedia Studio. I thought it about time I tried Linux and have installed SuSE Linux 10 on one of my PCs. I have it dual booting with Win XP using GRUB. Apart from some corrupt CDs/CD image issues, installation went okay.

The idea is to see if I can set it up as a general family OS for browsing, emailing and basic stuff like that. If it's not too difficult I may try setting up an Apache testing server in future, although I do have Apache, PHP and MySQL running on my main machine under Windows XP already.

I'd be obliged if anyone can point me to an absolute beginners guide to Linux/SuSE Linux. There's lots of documentation around, but it all seems to assume a certain level of knowledge. Just things like how and where to run command based commands, and anything else a noob needs to know is what I'm after.

Many thanks.

There are many ways to start and you already took the first step by entering this forum.
Here you can find many answers about common problems and as for the learning I suggest you to buy a nice o'reilly book about linux or browse the net and search for tutorials through it.
