18 months Microsoft-free, new member intro

Hi!! I'm a user of Ubuntu Linux and have been Microsoft-free for 18 months now. By that, I mean no use of Wine, no dual-boot system. That has forced me to figure things out and not take the easy route.

Anyway, I live in southern Indiana, USA and am a social worker and avid triathlete. I researched switching to a Linux distro after trying to re-install Windows on my own computer and being told by Microsoft that I couldn't because I have already installed it.

After trying out several distros I settled on Ubuntu, because of the amount of support available.

That's my story...sticking to it.

Way to go. Hard work is always worth the result in the end, and it's nice to see another person who understands that. Most people just want their computers to do their work for them.

I've been 100% free if Windows for about a week. The last remnant of Microsoft on my computer is the service tag on the back.
