Hello and Welcome
It's amazing anyone could remember their username and/or password for that long, unless it's something you've continually used all these years!
After a while you pay attention to the user's signup date and post count when they ask a question. Or at least I do, because it sometimes helps me to understand the experience and perspective the person may be approaching their question from.
Earlier this year, I noticed one or two situations very similar to your's.
Two different users who were on LQ for many years one of them 7 years and the other one nearly 10 or more.
One user just posted their introduction as you've done and summarized their Linux background a bit. It's like "you waited xx years to post your hello?", but they acknowledged, as you've done that they were on the forums, just always as a lurker.
The other person actually posted something moderately off. They were looking for how to subscribe to the zero reply search results. A few of us didn't think that such a subscription exists, however it does and someone eventually pointed that out. But wow, they wait 7 years to complain, or some change happened to their account so that excited their question. Problem was their question was very "off" grammatically and so were the 2-3 follow-ups.
