doing the first post

Somehow I found it a very difficult experience - When I clicked on New thread in the LO member forum, it kept taking me back to the Notice that said I need to post on the LO member forum. Couldnt get out of the loop. Tried reading up FAQ and tutorial, still no luck. hope this gets published atleast.

I'm not sure what resolution you're browsing at, but it sounds like you need to scroll down to see the new post screen.

Newbie in the forum

Hello everyone,

My name is Adams Kpewa, another newbie to Linux world. scant experience but blessed to have learn about this forum and the good reviews. I'm humble to be a part of this forum and I must tell you I need a lot of help. So please expect so many questions from me and I will hope that some good Samaritan as you all are will give me more answers than I expect. I have a great job and I really want to be with them but I have to be productive.

This will make you laugh but believe me if I know your homes I will stop by and wash your clothes as long as you can help me become good with Linux.

So again I want to thank you all for the initiative to have this forum.

I did...and am reading the thread "how to ask a question" I am new and am learning bit by bit as there is so much information to be found. I admit i don't always read everything before clicking but i did read the rules and am replying now, not to be a jerk but to make my first post (this counts right?) and to let everyone know that i appreciate being able to find answers on my own. reading questions already asked is a great way to learn before hand and avoid common issues.thanks to all that spend so much time just to help other people ;) the rules here are not only reasonable but should be expected without having to be posted.

A few suggestions:

Always feel that you are welcome here. If someone says something that seems offensive – don't take it that way. (And if it really is offensive, "report this post." The moderators will take it from there. Don't "fight fire with fire.")
If you post a question, say, in Spanish, put it through a Spanish-to-English translation page. (Post both versions if you think that the Spanish will be more accurate. Some of us can understand the language.) Replies to your post should be in English but someone may send a private-message to you in Spanish.
When you ask a question, provide details. Give us the entire context ... what sort of Linux you have, exactly what you typed in, and exactly what the computer printed out.
- Before asking your question, take advantage of Search. It is very likely that someone in the recent past had the same problem that you do. LQ has been around a long time and it has a big message archive.
- Since Linux technology is changing all the time, prefer recent posts over old ones.
- Please don't reply to old posts, thereby "raising them from the dead." But it's okay to cite one by including its URL in a new post, if you think it's relevant or if you want to point out exactly what you've been reading.
Give your question a meaningful title. (Not just "Help me!") Your message needs to attract the attention of people who can help you.
We all understand and have felt the panic of not knowing what to do next. (Yes, we have all been there – and, that's why we're here.) Try now to focus upon describing your problem, so that we can help you.
