WLAN connection fails after a few seconds - RALINK RT2860/Ubuntu9.10
 

Hello, I am trying to find help with my problem to get a reasonable connection of my desktop Medion Akoya P7700 D MD8848, which has a built in Ralink RT2860 card.

The HW is working, I have installed dual-boot on the computer. Under Vista the connection works without problems. And under Vista I was able to identify the built-in WLAN chipset.

However starting up Linux, everthing is fine only for the first couple of kB. The transfer starts at good speed - and then it gets stuck. Sometimes it can be repaired for another few seconds by de-activating the wireless network and then re-activating it. But it works only in 1 out of 10 cases.

Here are a few simple Linux commands I tried to get a status, but I honestly admit - I have no clue of the details of Linux or WLAN under Linux.

I also include the results of a ping, which I did while the transfer was stuck. Don't know why a ping works, while any other internet activity is stuck.
