WL-167g Usb driver: rt2500 Problem with ndiswrapper

Hi everyone!

I have an ASUS WLAN USB card model WL-167 with chipset rt2500.
Using Mandrake 10.1 Community and ndiswrapper version 1.2 rc1.

Now: Mandrake see my card:

[root@Asus christophe]# lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0b05:1706 ASUSTek Computer, Inc.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

In ndiswrapper I'm using the driver from the CD ( the WinXP one...) and
used ndiswrapper command:

[root@Asus christophe]# ndiswrapper -d 0b05:1706 rt2500usb

Ndiswrapper tells me that the driver was installed and the Hardware found.

After I load Ndiswrapper to the kernel nothing happens....

[root@Asus christophe]# modprobe ndiswrapper
[root@Asus christophe]#

Ofcourse this seamed odd, so I checked the kernel's messages and found:

ndiswrapper version 0.8 loaded
ndiswrapper: loadndiswrapper failed (256)

What could be the problem?
Any opinions?

You say that you installed ndiswrapper version 1.2, but it also looks like version 0.8 is installed from your kernel log. You should uninstall them both to be sure (follow the instructions for uninstallation in the wiki) then reinstall only the version you want.
Cheers

Also, check out the mandrake literature and boards about this before doing anything else. Sound like version 0.8 of ndiswrapper may have come with your distro, although I really have no idea about this.

[EDIT] Also, make sure you're using a sufficiently new kernel for the version of ndiswrapper you want to use.

Well before using the version I am using now, I used the one that came with Mandrake: ndiswrapper 0.9!

But during the installation of the driver I needed to specifie the Devices ID wich was only supported on newer versions ( ndiswrapper -d xxxx:xxxx rt2500usb )

So I uninstalled the old version and then installed the new one.
