wirless access point ping test?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew how to make a script to ping a Wireless Access Point, if it comes back with "Destination Host Unreachable", then I want it to email me.

I will set the script to run under a Cron job every hour, but just not sure how to go about writing the script.

If there is an easier way, then let me know that as well.

Running (Redhat Linux Fedora 1)
