Wireless Setup Help: Intel 802.11 A/G Mac WLAN on Lenovo X61
So I'm a slacker (beginner) and am trying to get internet connection. I have the cords for a direct connection to my modem but I'll be in college starting spring next year. Therefore getting my wireless to work is imperative.
So, I do ifconfig -a My eth0 was showing RX packets before I opened up my computer to look for the wireless model. When I reassembled my laptop, the RX no longer show. I didn't netconfig after reconnecting but that shouldn't be a problem being that I never removed the WLAN card. I just reran netconfig with network manager and received this output underneath the TX errors on eth0 Code:
device interrupt 20 memory 0xf8200000-f8220000 - Karat Quote:

extra info.
Went through the static ip setup, entered a random hostname and used duckduckgo.com as my domain (please mention something if those 2 variables need to be adjusted for internet connection)
I used a default ip address and a default netmask, entered the gateway my windows 7 was running off of and used the DNS value listed from my Windows cmd for the nameserver. Anything you see wrong or mislead? Thanks again, - Karat |
Update
Another Update I guess.
The Model for my LAN card is 4965AG MM1. My Modem is a RCA DCM425 My Router is a WRT54G V8 Slackware Linux 14.0 w/ kernel 3.2.29 I'm considering 'flashing' my firmware to DD-wrt. I'm considering installing iwlwifi from intel. I'm considering connecting to the internet via my CAT Ethernet Cable. Unfortunately, I can't do any of those. I'm not sure if the DD-wrt upgrade will do anything to help. While connected via cable I'm never prompted to give the networks password on netconfig. I'd settle (for the time being) just being able to run vi for the first time (even if it's not wireless!!). I'm kinda spent guys, and really need help right about now. - Karat |
