Wireless Problems- Please help!

Hi there! I just installed Ubuntu and I am not able to connect to the internet wirelessly. I can with a wired connection, however.

I am running Ubuntu 11.04 on a Dell Xps 710.

I get the following output with lspci :

Code:

If you could give me a step by step process that would be awesome! I'm honestly clueless. D:

I tried googling fixes, but I haven't came up with anything yet. Please and thank you! Your help is much appreciated! :)

Hello,

Please don't double post your question in multiple forums. You'll only confuse yourself and us on to where the conversation is taking place. Stick to this thread.

Also post the output of
Code:

ifconfig
iwconfig

Kind regards,

Eric

Do you have a wireless card?

Kind regards

Hi,

Nice catch repo! Unless OP didn't post the full output, he apparently doesn't have a wireless card. Didn't even notice that myself.

Kind regards,

Eric

I'm sorry! Please forgive me, I didn't know where the correct spot to post it was. Thank you for pointing that out to me!

rahul@rahulioooo:~$ iwconfig

eth0      no wireless extensions.

I'm pretty sure I don't, but could I still connect wirlessly with a Usb Adaptor? The original owner was able to connect wirelessly with that on XP.

I have a Dell Wireless 1450 Wireless Usb Adaptor.

Please And Thank you. :) Your help is much appreciated, I mean it!

Hi! Thank you for finding that for me!

I followed the steps thoroughly but after step 7 I get this error:
Code:

gedit:15551): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to store changes into `/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel', but failed: Failed to create file '/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel.5FMC1V': No such file or directory

(gedit:15551): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to set the permissions of `/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel', but failed: No such file or directory

I go on with the tutorial, but when I open the Install New Driver thing, and find and click on the Setup file, it says 'not a valid driver .inf file.'

Any Ideas?
